She took over the town, imprisoned everyone (especially the mayor), she was impulsive enough to hurt a lot of ponies when things didn't go her way, and worst of all... she treated the two biggest fans in town like slaves. She tortured them! She even tried to make someone writhe in agony!

Trixie has a line of punishment to people, and she clearly crossed it. She didn't embarrass, which she usually does. She really hurt a lot of people, and this would eat away at her forever if she didn't apologize. So... she's apologizing right now. But it's still eating away at her right now. She doesn't ever expect to be forgiven for anything she did to Ponyville. Still, even though it's a long shot, she'll try and ask for forgiveness.
