The Crystal Empire, part 3.5 - an Interlude on Skyropes

CS: Shining Armor?
CS: Are you there?
CS: We need to talk.
CS: Answer me.
CS: I can tell you have the headset turned on.
CS: Shining Julian Armor, you answer me RIGHT NOW or so help me--
SS: Wha? Twighly? Is this thing on?
CS: Obviously.
CS: Princess Celestia's sent me up to meet you. I'm on the train up with my friends from Ponyville.
SS: Yeah I know. She told both Cadance and I before we left.
SS: She wanted us to go ahead but that she would be sending you to help.
CS: Right. But before I get there, I was hoping you could fill me in on what exactly is going on?
CS: The Princess wasn't able to tell me much.
SS: I'm not sure I can be of much help either. Something is here, but I'm not entirely sure what.
SS: I just hope it's not what I fear.
CS: What do you mean?
CS: Your protection spell should be able to keep anything out of the Crystal Empire, shouldn't it?
CS: I mean I know it's not a permanent solution, but...
SS: I'm not the one who is casting the spell. This needs something different.
SS: It's Cadance...
SS: It's not just a protection spell... It's her light and love that is keeping the empire safe.
SS: You're right, it's not a permanent solution.
CS: *Cadance* is protecting the Empire? All by herself?
CS: Wow.
SS: Yes, but I fear she won't last much longer which is why Princess Celestia sent you to meet us.
SS: With me patrolling outside, and Cadance using her magic, we need all the help we can get.
CS: Well, you've been *in* the Empire itself. What have you found out?
CS: All the Princess could tell me was that there was an evil king who took over, and when he was overthrown he cast a curse that made the Empire vanish up until now.
CS: Come to think of it, there's a good start... who did King Sombra take over from?
SS: We're not sure. There's so little information but what I do know is that the Crystal Ponies have lost hope.
CS: So you've really done nothing but patrol this whole time?
SS: Something keeps attacking Cadance's shield. It's all I've been able to do to ensure the Empire's safety until your arrival.
CS: What if you cast your own protection spell along with hers? It worked on the changelings...
SS: Twighly... I wish it were that simple.
SS: We don't even really know what we're up against.
CS: *sigh*
CS: Thanks anyway, BBBFF.
CS: I can at least see about getting into Milliways for supplies before we get there.
SS: That will help a lot. I knew I could rely on you.
SS: I can't wait to see you, Lil' Sis.
CS: I just hope I can live up to that.
